My friends baby just got the chicken pox. And someone posted that his lizard is a carrier of this.

Humans are the only host and natural reservoir of Varicella Zoster Virus (VZV) aka `the chickenpox virus`.
The virus itself is a human alpha-herpesvirus (just like Herpes Simplex Viruses).
But you are right, Salmonella (and Campylobacter) and a variety of other bacteria can live on lizards and so lizards should always be treated carefully and proper handwashing afterwards.
